Have you heard about the new initiative for Military Families?  You can read about it here.  Let me know what you think.  I'd love to hear from both those of you who are military and those who are not.  I'm going to be honest with you, I'm not a fan of any more government initiatives.  Period.  Yes, it sounds great!  But still, more government?  Hmmmmmm ... Don't you just think it's sad that the government has to tell people to just help their neighbors out?  I'll admit, I am very blessed.  While we do not live on Post, and while we are not even in a military community, we are still blessed with amazing neighbors who have hearts of gold.  They look after the girls and me, because quite frankly, they look after everyone.  They do it because it's what people should do.  It's right and it is wonderful.  I am proud to say that they are my neighbors.  It makes me smile inside and out that there are still those who do good without any prompting, any pay, any recognition or any government initiative.  I know not everyone has neighbors like this, but I know even with a government program they still won't.  Anyway, I think awareness is good and there is definitely a need for morale boosting amongst those who serve and the families they leave behind.  So we'll see ...

In other news, time is not our friend lately here at 57.  Anticipation, anxiety, the known and the unknown ... and the frequent moments of just quiet.

Michael Horton spoke at our church this past weekend.  Sunday we sang Amazing Grace.  Well, at least the rest of the church sang it.  Tears filled my eyes and lumps in my throat hindered me getting all the words out.

"The Lord has promised good to me, His word my hope secures.  He will my shield and portion be."

In Christ Alone and to Him be the glory.

  1. Thank you for posting...I've missed you! My dearest friend is a military wife (Airforce)...Her husband leaves for Iraq in June. She has 4 children, homeschools, and lives far from family (San Antonio). I love your girls dresses! I appreciated the specific words you shared today from Amazing Grace. It is sweet how God gives just the words we need to hear...the beauty of blogging. Enjoy your day.
