Big Enough

As you all know, Kate started Preschool this year.  Ever since then, I am constantly hearing, "I'm big enough now."  It seems that Kate is now "big enough" to not take naps.  She's "big enough" to unbuckle herself.  She's "big enough" to set the table.  Well, you get the idea.

I had to run grab my camera when I saw this scene in the bathroom.

Our 3 year old who is "big enough" to brush her own teeth.  There's just something about those feet on the stool the way they are that just doesn't seem to jive with her "big enough" theory.  I guess with a little help we are all "big enough" for anything.

I love this sweet girl.

And just for the record, as her Momma, no matter how big she gets, I think a part of me will just always see her as this little girl in pigtails and striped footy jammies making faces at herself in the mirror.

Every Morning ...

I hear a thump, thump of little feet slowly approaching my room.  I look around the corner and I see a sweet little girl in Dora jammies holding her pig.  Every morning this is the routine.  And every morning I eat it up:).

Quiet

Richard took some time off for the weekend. We had a quick trip (more on that later) and yesterday was our "recoup" time. He spent the morning at the pool with the older girls. I spent the morning with the younger ones grocery shopping. Almost seems an unfair deal, right?! But I have to admit, there was hardly a sole at the store other than the stockers and us and this little girl very much enjoyed her Momma's attention and having the role of the "big girl" for a couple of hours. (and on a side note, I hope I never forget the image of her spotting the marshmallows and skipping up ahead of me to them shouting "Look, Momma!  They have MUSHROOMS!!"  Oh, please don't grow up too fast Kate:)!!)

After lunch I put Olivia down and Richard took the everyone else back to the pool. Of course I wanted to be at the pool with them, but what a priceless gift to have quiet for almost three hours! I think if I had this once a week, I'd be a completely different person:).

It's back to the nitty gritty this morning. My head is already buzzing with my endless list of things that I need to accomplish. But I did have some time to sit and read and pray this morning. The sermon I heard on Sunday fell right in line with the two books I'm currently reading in the mornings ... the bottom line "God doesn't desire us to be happy, but holy. Happiness is just the added bonus."

I hope you all are enjoying your week! Hard to believe another one is almost over. Am I getting older, or are the summers just going by faster??

Thank you to all of you who have made comments on my posts or sent emails to my inbox. I will get back to you, promise!!! I've enjoyed hearing from you and finding your blogs, as well.  For now, I'm off to my day.  After receiving some helpful advice from an experienced hydrangea grower, I am going to give my third attempt at rooting some of mine today.  I'll let you know how I do ...

Blessings to you all!
To God be the Glory.

A Moment Captured

One of my favorite things to do is just grab my camera and capture what the girls are doing right then. Here are Kate and Olivia as I found them when I went to get them for lunch.

I've also linked up again for Sweet Shot Tuesday with this photo of Kate holding Patterson's seedlings.

Hope your Tuesday is going great!  It's story time now here, so I gotta grab some books and some girls:).

Last Day of MMO

Today was the last day of Mother's Morning Out for Kate and Olivia.
I had huge anxieties over them attending.  None of my girls had ever attended a full year before and enrolling them made me feel like my ability to manage everything was crumbling.
I was anxious about our time apart.  I was anxious about Olivia being so young.  I was anxious about Kate feeling like she was the only one being dropped off.  I was anxious about what "things" she'd pick up from the other kids (because you know the girls here at the Davenport School are perfectly behaved!!)  I was anxious because it was just another new thing in our lives ... another unknown, another something not done the way we'd done it in the past.

In the end all worked out great.  They both had wonderful classes and wonderful teachers.  They always came home with smiles on their faces and slept well from their busy morning of play.  It was a good thing for us all.  And I must say when I was talking to one of the teachers today, I felt a tear forming in my eye!  Life is so precious, and so fleeting.

I am so blessed.
